What we see in Evergreen homes
Evergreen homes — Hiwan, Evergreen Meadows, Bergen Park, the Upper Bear Creek and North Turkey Creek properties — are mostly wood-sided or log, 1970s to 2000s, with wood windows and deck doors that have taken thirty years of UV and freeze-thaw. South and west elevations fail first: checked sills, fogged glass, doors that won't latch in January.
At this elevation we spec differently: fiberglass or clad wood (not vinyl on big openings), low-E glass chosen by orientation, and argon fills handled correctly for altitude. Deck doors get sill pans and proper flashing so meltwater goes out, not under the threshold.

Working in Evergreen
Jefferson County permits for structural and egress work; most like-for-like replacement is exempt. Winter installs are fine — one opening at a time, closed up the same day. Steep drives and delivery access are part of every Evergreen plan. Drive time from Franktown is about an hour, so we schedule mountain work in full days.
Evergreen questions
Can you install in winter at this elevation?
Yes. We open one opening at a time and the new unit is in within about an hour, so the house doesn't get cold. Sealants are rated for cold application. Many mountain clients prefer winter for the shorter product lead times.
Does argon gas leak out at altitude?
Units built at low elevation and shipped to 7,000 feet can bow or stress the seal from the pressure difference. Manufacturers handle this with breather tubes or altitude-adjusted fills; we order it correctly for your elevation so you keep the gas and the seal.
Wood or fiberglass for a mountain home?
Clad wood if you want a stained wood interior and a finished aluminum exterior. Fiberglass if the interior is painted — it moves with the glass through −10° nights and holds a dark color in full sun. We don't recommend vinyl up here.
